Art Director

Job Description
The Art Director assists the Creative Director with every aspect of completing creative and production projects through management of available resources. May help manage creative department or creative team. Reports to the Creative Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and provides concepts for projects/campaigns to meet approved strategic marketing objectives.
  • Works with assigned web programmers and copywriters to concept and design websites and other interactive properties which will meet client objectives.
  • 5+ years experience in branding, print design, packaging design and website concept development.
  • Works closely with account services as a liaison to the creative department, helping the creative department sell their best marketing solutions to account executives and the client.
  • Coordinates with and works directly with the traffic manager and account executives to schedule creative/production jobs according to creative director’s direction.
  • Manages the creative/production department’s day-to-day operations.
  • Attends creative input meetings in the creative director’s absence or at the Creative Director’s direction.
  • Sells creative internally or to clients at the Creative Director’s or Account Executive’s request.
  • Has working knowledge of all software programs needed to fulfill approved creative concepts.
  • Represents the agency at creative/professional/civic functions.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Excellent communication, public speaking and writing skills.
  • Bachelors degree or similar experience in related field.
  • Prior agency experience a plus.

Graphic Designer

Job Description

The Graphic Designer works independently on assigned projects, or as a member of a project team. The designer works up concepts and fulfills layout assignments according to supplied strategic and creative input. The designer may, on occasion, work directly with account executives, or with production artists and outside vendors to complete design requirements or supervise in-house production, but more typically works under the direction of an art director or creative director. Knowledge of production processes, with experience using in digital illustration and layout software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other industry design and production software; reasonable drawing skills; printing processes and specification; paper specification; ink specification; familiarity with typestyles, type design and type specification; stock photography; computer retouching and image manipulation; art direction of original photography; and good communication skills are desirable. Reports to the Creative Director.Responsibilities:

  • Provides design and illustration (digital and/or traditional) from conception to completion as required.
  • Works with art director/copywriter teams to concept and complete assigned projects and campaigns.
  • Assists account teams with presentations for creative and new business pitches.
  • Works with independent contractors (freelance illustrators, photographers, etc.) as required per assignment, under supervision of designated art director/senior art director/creative director, and in conjunction with production manager to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Maintains high skill levels in software programs required to perform assigned job functions; takes training in the use of new design and illustration software as the agency requires.
  • Assists in archiving and maintaining digital files, project hard copies, photography, illustrations, logo art, typestyles, historical collateral samples, etc., of client materials and resources, and in maintaining a log of said archives to assist other department members in locating necessary files and references.
  • Maintains current computer software skills compatible with the needs of other creative team members.
  • Notifies designated purchasing personnel or creative director when hardware/software requires updating or servicing.
  • Maintains internal and off-site digital file backups for in-progress jobs; uploads completed project files to agency Digital Asset Management archive system.

Account Executive

Job Description

The Account Executive is responsible for daily contact between the agency and one or more client accounts.  The account executive interfaces with various agency departments to move projects through on behalf of the client.  This includes meeting with the creative director concerning creative issues and input, the director of interactive marketing concerning interactive projects, the traffic manager concerning scheduling and timing and the CEO to discuss the accounts overall.

The account executive has major input in developing strategic marketing plans for their clients. After plans are developed and presented to clients, the account executive is responsible for carrying out the plan on a daily basis.

The account executive is also responsible for gaining new business from existing clients.  S/he is not a salesperson; s/he is a service person. Reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Handles day-to-day activities for assigned clients.
  • Keeps apprised of progress of clients’ projects through production and traffic managers or other relevant personnel.
  • Receives client briefings.
  • Adds tasks into project management systems such as Basecamp after all client meetings and distributes to appropriate agency personnel.
  • Quickly and accurately relays Client Change Orders to all appropriate agency personnel.
  • Effectively presents, sells and defends all agency work/proposals to clients; supports other client service team members in these functions.
  • Keeps apprised of clients’ brands/products/services/marketing developments.
  • Assists in preparing client invoices, proposals, marketing communications and strategic marketing plans, media and public relations plans.
  • Regularly checks for and responds promptly to all client communications, including calls, texts and emails.
  • Oversees execution of approved programs.
  • Checks and approves creative/production materials, copy, layouts, and production art, and coordinates client approval of same.
  • Reviews billing prior to release to clients; ensures prompt collection of accounts receivable.
  • Informs supervisors regularly of account progress for all assigned clients; involves supervisors immediately in event of potential problems, i.e., client/agency relations, budget overruns, etc.
  • Coordinates project timing and budgets with all relevant agency personnel.
  • Actively seeks additional projects/new business from client contacts.
  • Keeps account coordinator/assistant informed of client activities.
  • Represents agency at industry and community functions.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Excellent communication, public speaking and writing skills.
  • Experience in account management.
  • Team building skills.
  • Bachelors degree in related field.
  • Experience managing social media accounts.
  • Understanding of SEO, Google AdWords a plus.
  • Prior agency experience a plus.
